The Pittsburgh Steelers will enter 2025 with arguably the best depth at quarterback that the team has had in years. Pittsburgh signed four-time MVP and future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers to a one-year deal back in June, with Rodgers being the solidified starter to begin the season. The Steelers also have Mason Rudolph currently listed as the backup, with both Skylar Thompson and rookie Will Howard fighting for the third string role as well.

Many people believe that Rodgers' presence will improve the entire offensive unit as a whole, as the former New York Jets quarterback is more than likely the greatest player that the majority of players on the Steelers' current roster have ever played with. Rodgers has struggled with injuries in the recent past, as a torn Achilles suffered on the opening drive of the 2023 season left the veteran out for the remainder of the year. He could be elite if healthy, as Rodgers is the type of player that uplifts the offense as a whole and makes everyone around him play at a higher level.

Steelers wide receiver Ben Skowronek was recently asked what his experience has been like playing on the same unit as Rodgers, with Skowronek claiming the offense is laser focused with their new quarterback under center.

"I just think we are laser focused," Skowronek stated. "We're locked in and we're confident. When you have a guy like that under center who's a four-time MVP... he's a genius on the field. Just talking to him, and I don't want to go too much into detail and everything, but just talking to him about looks from 2018 or 2012, whatever the year is, he remembers everything."

Skowronek then continued to speak about people's doubts towards Rodgers.

"Yeah, he is 40-whatever years old. But, he can still sling that thing. And he has been great in the meeting room," Skowronek explained.

Many people continue to share torn opinions on Rodgers, as the veteran is 41 years old entering his 21st NFL season. Rodgers is still just a few seasons removed from his last MVP Award in 2021, with many believing that the quarterback may still have enough in the tank to make Pittsburgh a true competitor. The former Jet could thrive in 2025, as Rodgers has the chance to develop one of the most lethal deep ball connections in all of football with Pittsburgh newcomer DK Metcalf.

Rodgers could play a significant role in helping the Steelers prepare for the future as well, with many expecting the veteran quarterback to be an excellent mentor towards Howard. Howard, a sixth-round pick out of Ohio State, is a promising rookie that is expected to get an opportunity in the future. As Rodgers and the rest of the Steelers' offense find themselves laser focused on the start of the regular season, fans should remain hopeful that the veteran quarterback will play like his former self throughout 2025.

Steelers' Aaron Rodgers Already Building Chemistry With Current WR Room

With Skowronek and the rest of the Steelers' offensive unit remaining focused on Week 1 in New Jersey, many feel like Rodgers and Metcalf can emerge as an elite deep threat throughout 2025. Metcalf was traded to Pittsburgh in a deal with the Seattle Seahawks earlier in the offseason, with Metcalf instantly solidifying himself as the Steelers' top receiving option the moment he signed with the Steel City.

Rodgers and Metcalf were reportedly working out together prior to Rodgers signing his one-year deal, as both veterans have continuously developed chemistry with each other during the entire offseason. Metcalf is one of the strongest receivers in all of football, and a receiver of his caliber may be exactly what the Steelers need to succeed in 2025. The duo is expected to continue developing chemistry throughout the remainder of the offseason, with both veterans looking to be top contributors to the Steelers' offense this season.
