The Pittsburgh Steelers went all in in the 2025 offseason to land Aaron Rodgers. The now 41-year-old quarterback joins the Steelers after winning just five games with the New York Jets in the 2024 season. Despite that disappointing campaign, Mike Tomlin and several pundits still believe Rodgers has enough vintage moments left in his tank to help this team make a deep playoff run in 2025.

The Steelers built their roster around the idea of taking one last big swing, and Rodgers represents that gamble as an experienced, battle-tested quarterback with Hall of Fame credentials brought in to guide Pittsburgh through a brutal AFC playoff picture. One player who knows firsthand how dangerous Rodgers can be is Ryan Clark. The former Steelers safety was on the losing end of Rodgers’ Super Bowl XLV victory, a game in which Rodgers picked apart the Pittsburgh defense and cemented his status as one of the league’s most clutch performers.
Recently, Clark went to Latrobe, Pennsylvania, during Steelers training camp and watched Rodgers throw in person. What he saw surprised him. Rodgers still displayed precision and arm talent while carrying a confidence that made Clark believe the veteran could elevate the Steelers’ offense in ways few expected.
While speaking on Football America! with Dave Dameshek, Clark dropped a massive comment that instantly turned heads. He said that Rodgers’ current form, even at 41, could give the Steelers something they never consistently had even with Ben Roethlisberger under center.
"I watched him throw a football, and I still, let me really think about this," Clark said. "He threw some footballs that were the best footballs I ever saw thrown on those fields."
It was a bold statement, essentially putting Rodgers above Roethlisberger in certain aspects, particularly his consistency, accuracy, and ability to control an offense at the line of scrimmage. For Steelers fans, hearing that from a former player who once lost a championship game to Rodgers carries real weight. It not only validates the front office’s aggressive offseason move but also raises expectations that Rodgers might just be capable of writing one last unforgettable chapter in his career, this time in black and gold.

Clark was very careful with how he worded his comments. He wanted to avoid coming off as a slight to Roethlisberger or any other quarterback who has played on those fields. Over the last two decades, Clark has seen a lot of talent come through Latrobe, Pennsylvania, which makes his praise for Rodgers even more notable. It is interesting to hear him speak so highly about what he witnessed from Rodgers in training camp.
Steelers' Ryan Clark Is All In On Aaron Rodgers
For those who weren’t in attendance, Clark’s remarks certainly make you curious. How impressive must Rodgers have looked for Clark to be so confident in a statement like this? It is not meant as a knock on Roethlisberger, but rather a reflection of what Clark has observed over the years.
Clark is essentially saying that after watching countless quarterbacks at Latrobe, what he saw from Rodgers in 2025 stands out. In his eyes, this is the best he has ever seen anyone throw on that field, and that level of performance is what makes him so confident in Rodgers’ ability to elevate the Steelers in the coming season.

It sure sounds like Clark is all in on Rodgers for the 2025 season. The Steelers don’t need him to be the four-time league MVP he once was. They just need him to protect the football and manage the offense efficiently.
