The Pittsburgh Steelers offense looked like it didn’t need a ton of additional help with the way Aaron Rodgers played on Sunday. In the Week 1 game at MetLife Stadium, Rodgers tore up his former team as the Steelers eked out a thrilling 34-32 victory over the New York Jets. Calvin Austin III and DK Metcalf made their impacts felt, while a committee of other wide receivers and tight ends contributed key plays throughout the game. The offense showed balance, explosiveness, and an ability to finish drives, leaving many to wonder if the Steelers’ receiving corps might already be in strong shape.

Despite the impressive performance, questions about depth at wide receiver have lingered. Analysts and fans alike have pointed to the need for a true top-tier weapon to pair with Rodgers and Metcalf. The Steelers’ front office has made it clear that their all-in approach for the 2025 season involves maximizing every opportunity to improve an offense that already looks potent but could become elite with the right additions. Wide receiver has remained a focal point for potential upgrades.
On Monday, Pro Football Talk and NFL insider Mike Florio dropped new information regarding Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill. According to Florio, Hill could become available sooner than expected, which would give the Steelers a chance to add an All-Pro wide receiver to their already dynamic offense. If the team moves on Hill, it would represent a bold statement in Pittsburgh’s aggressive approach for 2025, instantly elevating their passing game and giving Rodgers another true game-breaking target.
"Second, the Steelers," Florio said. "There’s already chatter, in the aftermath of Sunday’s win over the Jets, that the all-in Steelers could go even more all-in by making a move for Hill. Yes, Pittsburgh already has receiver DK Metcalf, who’s making $30 million per year on a five-year deal. But the Steelers don’t have a clear cut No. 2. Hill would be 1b (if not, at times, 1a) to Metcalf."
Florio continued his sentiments, stating that the Steelers are already coming up in conversations about Hill.

Miami Dolphins star wide receiver Tyreek Hill gets ready during an away game in the 2024 NFL season.
He firmly believes that Rodgers and everyone else in Pittsburgh would, of course, be on board, adding, 'Why wouldn’t Rodgers want him?'"
"Also, between Rodgers and Coach Mike Tomlin and other veteran leaders, the Steelers could potentially manage Hill, who would likely be so thrilled to get to a contender that he’d be on his best behavior for at least the rest of the season," Florio said.
Hill has been in a messy situation with the Dolphins. Toward the end of the 2024 season, viral clips surfaced of him seemingly quitting on his team during games and appearing noticeably upset. While Hill’s behavior has rubbed some fans the wrong way, many Steelers fans and football followers can understand why the 2024 NFL's best player might be frustrated in a struggling organization that has consistently failed to get things right.
Steelers' Offense Could Have Clear Path To Landing Tyreek Hill
As Florio noted, Hill hasn’t had a catch over 30 yards since Week 1 of the 2024 season. Just a season ago, he was voted the best player in the entire NFL. In 2024, Hill finished with 959 receiving yards on 81 catches and scored six touchdowns. In the Dolphins’ brutal loss on Sunday to the Indianapolis Colts, he managed just four catches for 40 yards.

Clearly, his frustration is valid. If Hill were to come to Pittsburgh, he would likely be thrilled to join a team with a quarterback like Rodgers and a roster committed to going all-in. The Steelers could instantly become one of the most dangerous offenses in the NFL with a player of Hill’s caliber.
