The Pittsburgh Steelers are preparing for Week 3 of the 2025 NFL season, and the team already has the fan base extremely frustrated. Pittsburgh lost a very winnable game in Week 2 to the Seattle Seahawks, and most of the blame has fallen on the defense, as well as a major error on special teams that handed a touchdown to Seattle. Pittsburgh needs to make some serious schematic improvements on defense, but the offense also needs to step up. The group hasn't been as bad as it has been in recent years, but there are some areas to get better in.

Aaron Rodgers has played fairly well throughout his first two contests with the organization. His Week 1 performance against the New York Jets was remarkable, as he threw for four touchdowns, while his Week 2 performance was not as great. Overall, he has been good while playing behind an offensive line that is still working on improving, and his early season play has shown that the offense's potential is much higher than years past. He is playing better than he did in 2024 with New York, and an AFC scout shared a message about the quarterback with ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
"It was the Minnesota game in London [in Week 5] that marked about six-to-eight weeks of almost zero mobility due to injury, he was compromised and it showed," the scout said. "But just being a year removed [from the Achilles tear], he seems a little bit more secure and a little less hesitant compared to a year ago."
The scout was referencing an international game from the 2024 season where the Jets played the Minnesota Vikings. The game was arguably the worst one of the 2024 season for Rodgers where he threw three interceptions while completing just over 50 percent of his 54 attempts. This was the game where it was obvious to tell that Rodgers was still not feeling like himself post-Achilles tear.

The same scout that was watching Rodgers struggle in 2024 can tell that the veteran quarterback is feeling much better, and he seems to be more confident moving around on the field. He still is not as mobile as he once was, but he is now seemingly less hesitant in making decisions, which is good for Pittsburgh's offense.
Overall, this is a message that should make fans in Western Pennsylvania a little bit optimistic. Rodgers has only improved as more time has come between his Achilles injury and present day, which should mean he will continue to improve as he gets more comfortable within the offense. If the defense continues to struggle, Rodgers could play well enough to keep the offense competitive with opponents which might keep the Steelers in some games.
Steelers' Aaron Rodgers Should Have A Strong Performance In Week 3
Rodgers has played decently through two games, but he should be able to put together a strong performance when playing the New England Patriots in Week 3. New England's star cornerback Christian Gonzalez is still dealing with a hamstring injury, and the defense is full of new pieces that are still working on gelling together (similar to Pittsburgh). Rodgers' experience and wisdom should be reliable tools in this matchup, which could allow him to pick the opposing defense apart.

The veteran quarterback might not come out and throw four touchdowns like he did in Week 1, but a strong performance from him where he doesn't turn the ball over should result in a victory for Pittsburgh. Hopefully the defense can take a step forward as well, which would make fans feel extremely confident about the rest of the 2025 season -- especially if they're able to slow down the run.
