The Pittsburgh Steelers' offense has gotten off to a confusing start in 2025. Veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the rest of the offensive unit looked nothing short of elite against the New York Jets in Week 1, as the unit was able to put up an impressive 34 points to begin the season. Pittsburgh then followed up Week 1's impressive showing with an underwhelming offensive performance against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2.

The Steelers lack wide receiver depth outside of DK Metcalf and Calvin Austin lll. Austin looked like an elite wide receiver two in Week 1 against the Jets, but the promising receiver struggled in the home opener against Seattle. Pittsburgh currently has Roman Wilson as the third option behind Metcalf and Austin, but the team could quickly find themselves becoming a front runner for a young and talented wide out from the Carolina Panthers.

Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox recently released an article listing potential trade suitors for Xavier Leggette, and Knox believes that the Steelers could be a top landing spot for the promising wide receiver.
"Adding Legette would be a risk-reward move that could make a lot of sense for teams with questionable receiver depth." Knox wrote. "A third-round pick that could become a second based on statistical production would be a fair asking price for Carolina."
Knox would then continue to list the Steelers and the San Francesco 49ers as top landing spots for the Panthers' wideout. A first-round pick in 2024, Legette made his presence known on the college level throughout his career at South Carolina and quickly found his draft stock rising all the way to the first round. Legette has struggled during his time with the Panthers, as the talented wide receiver's impressive college production has not translated well to the NFL level throughout the early stages of his career.

Steelers' potential trade target and current Carolina Panthers' wide receiver Xavier Legette.
Legette has gotten off to a rough start to begin his second season in the NFL. The talented receiver currently has just four catches for eight yards on the year, as a change of scenery could prove to be absolutely crucial in order for the sophomore receiver to succeed. Pittsburgh could become a top suitor for Legette should the young receiver be made available, as the former first-round selection will look to get his career back on track in 2025.
Steelers' Offense Under Rodgers Could Be The Perfect Fit For Legette
Legette has struggled to begin his career with the Panthers. The Panthers have a young and unproven quarterback in Bryce Young, as the Panthers' underwhelming quarterback play over the past two years has had a direct tie to Legette's struggles. A trade to Pittsburgh could be the exact change of scenery that Legette needs, as the young receiver would be catching passes from a four-time MVP and future Hall Of Fame quarterback in Rodgers throughout 2025.
Legette could prove to be a true weapon behind Metcalf and Austin. Rodgers could quickly help the talented receiver get back on track in the passing game, as Legette would truly benefit by catching passes from a veteran quarterback of Rodgers' caliber. The Steelers could become a top suitor for Legette in the near future, as wide receiver depth behind Metcalf and Austin continues to be a cause for concern.
The Steelers could be the perfect spot for Legette to land. Legette could almost instantly get his career back on track with a trade to a new team, as playing with a veteran quarterback like Rodgers could be the exact change of scenery that the talented wide receiver needs. The Steelers will face the New England Patriots on Sunday as the wide receiver depth will be put to the test against an elite New England secondary.
