The Pittsburgh Steelers had many curious about what they were going to do at quarterback for the 2025 season. With a veteran roster and the fact that Pittsburgh hasn’t won a playoff game since the 2016 season, the Steelers knew they needed to take a big risk. That risk came in the form of signing Aaron Rodgers, a move that immediately sparked questions about what he still had left in the tank. Fans and analysts alike wondered if Rodgers could still perform at an elite level and help return Pittsburgh to playoff contention.

So far, Rodgers has been exactly what the Steelers needed. His leadership, experience, and ability to make clutch plays have revitalized an offense that struggled in recent years. The veteran quarterback has not only produced impressive stats, but has also injected confidence into the team, giving both players and fans hope for the first time in a long while. Pittsburgh’s gamble seems to be paying off as Rodgers continues to show he can still perform at a high level under pressure.
In fact, Rodgers has been so good that one of his greatest haters has already issued an apology after just four weeks. Colin Cowherd, who previously called Rodgers a "weird uncle," went on his show The Herd on Thursday to publicly apologize to the veteran quarterback. Cowherd admitted that he had underestimated Rodgers’ ability and impact on the Steelers, acknowledging that the move has been a game-changer for Pittsburgh. The apology underscores just how quickly Rodgers has silenced critics and transformed the perception of Pittsburgh’s quarterback situation.
"I was wrong to call you a snarky, prickly, weird uncle," Cowherd said on his show. "My bad bro. You are a baller, not a bailer, after all. You've been magnetic, energizing and resilient. The rare eccentric quarterback who is pointing the Steel City out of the darkness and into the light."
Cowherd has never been shy about sharing his opinions, and in the past, some of his takes have even upset Steeler Nation. However, his early praise of Rodgers in the 2025 season is particularly noteworthy. One of the most exciting plays of the 2025 season came when Rodgers connected with DK Metcalf in the second quarter of the Week 4 contest in Dublin, Ireland, on a one-play, 80-yard touchdown drive.

For starters, it highlights that Rodgers may truly have the ability to lead this Steelers team out of the darkness. The franchise has struggled ever since Ben Roethlisberger retired, but Rodgers has already brought a renewed sense of trust and opportunity, giving both the team and fans hope for a brighter future.

Not many knew what to expect from the former four-time MVP at the age of 41. Through the first four games, Rodgers has the Steelers sitting at 3-1 and atop the AFC North. He’s completed 68.5% of his passes for 786 yards, throwing eight touchdowns against just three interceptions, proving that age has done little to slow down his elite play.
Steelers' Aaron Rodgers Not Asked To Play Like An MVP
The Steelers aren’t asking Rodgers to play like an MVP. They just need him to be capable of lifting the offense in the biggest moments.

So far, Rodgers has done exactly that, and Steelers fans are starting to get excited about what this team could accomplish. The Steelers now get a chance to rest up during their Week 5 bye week.
