The Pittsburgh Steelers are sitting at 3-1 in the 2025 season with Aaron Rodgers as their quarterback. They got to rest over Week 5 as they were on a bye week. Pittsburgh will come back home in Week 6 to face off against the Cleveland Browns in AFC North play, a matchup that always brings intensity and physicality. The Steelers have looked sharp through the first four games, with Rodgers showing great command of the offense and the defense continuing to gel together. Head Coach Mike Tomlin has praised the team’s focus and preparation, especially as they prepare for a crucial stretch of divisional games that could shape the AFC North standings.

One game that is already generating major buzz is the Steelers’ Week 8 matchup against the Green Bay Packers. That contest will mark the first time Rodgers faces his former team since leaving Green Bay, and the storyline practically writes itself. Rodgers spent nearly two decades with the Packers, leading them to a Super Bowl victory and building a Hall of Fame résumé. Now, he’ll look to lead Pittsburgh past his old franchise at Acrisure Stadium in front of what’s expected to be one of the most electric crowds of the season. Both fan bases have had this game circled on their calendars since the schedule was released.
Adding even more intrigue to the matchup, Pro Football Talk reported on Monday morning that Packers wide receiver Christian Watson has returned to practice, beginning his 21-day window to return from the physically unable to perform list. The Steelers will host the Packers on October 26, which means Watson could be on track to make his season debut in that contest. His return would be a major boost for Green Bay’s young offense.
"The Packers are coming off their bye week and are getting closer to adding a boost at receiver," Myles Simmons of PFT wrote. "According to multiple reporters on the scene, Christian Watson is practicing on Monday, meaning Green Bay has opened Watson’s 21-day window to return from the physically unable to perform list. Watson suffered a torn ACL in Week 18 of last season. A second-round pick in 2022, Watson caught 29 passes for 620 yards with two touchdowns last season. He has 98 career receptions for 1,653 yards with 14 TDs."
Obviously, for the Packers, getting Watson back would be a major boost to their offense. When healthy, Watson has proven to be one of Green Bay’s most explosive playmakers.

He is a true deep threat who can stretch the field and create big-play opportunities for quarterback Jordan Love and the rest of the offense. His combination of size, speed, and athleticism makes him a dangerous weapon in any matchup, and his return could give the Packers’ passing game the spark it has been missing in recent weeks.
Steelers Versus Packers Set To Take NFL By Storm
However, Watson’s career so far has been defined as much by his potential as by his struggle to stay on the field. Since entering the NFL, he has dealt with a myriad of injuries ranging from hamstring problems to lower-body setbacks that have repeatedly slowed his progress. Despite those challenges, when he is available, his impact is undeniable. He is capable of changing the momentum of a game with a single big play, something few receivers in the league can do.

If Watson is ready to return in time for Green Bay’s Week 8 matchup with the Steelers, it will add another compelling layer to an already headline-grabbing game. The sight of Rodgers facing his former team will make for must-watch football. With Watson possibly back in the lineup, the Packers’ offense could look far more dynamic, setting the stage for an exciting showdown at Acrisure Stadium that will capture the attention of fans across the NFL.
