Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will face his former franchise, the Green Bay Packers, for the first time in his 21-year career on Sunday night. He has played excellent football in recent weeks and the former Green Bay star could very well enter Sunday night's matchup with a chip on his shoulder.

Rodgers is widely regarded as one of the best quarterbacks ever due to his success in a Packers uniform. The veteran won four MVP Awards during his 18-year tenure with the team and Rodgers played a crucial role in the Packers' Super Bowl XLV victory over the Steelers.

NFL insider Albert Breer recently took a moment to share his thoughts ahead of the much anticipated matchup this weekend, as Breer believes Rodgers will undoubtedly enter the matchup with extra motivation. Breer also believes Rodgers will remain professional leading up to the contest, but deep down, the matchup will hold a very significant meaning.

"Anybody who's been around Aaron, he's going to say the right things, I'm sure this week, but we all know he's got a hair across his you-know-what going on," Breer stated.

Breer continued to claim that there could be some obvious stares after big plays.

"And there might be some glares up into the suite level there in Acrisure Stadium after this throw or that throw that he makes," Breer admitted. "I think he still has some bones to pick with some people in the front office there. It will be fun to watch."

Rodgers has played excellent football for the majority of 2025. He and the Steelers' offense will certainly have a tough task in going up against the Packers' defense. Green Bay has allowed the second least rushing yards to an opponent per game in 2025, and Pittsburgh will need to take full advantage of the Packers' secondary throughout the matchup.

Rodgers was excellent the last time he played a former team of his. The veteran threw for 244 yards and four touchdowns in Week 1 against the New York Jets and could be in line for another big performance against the Packers' underwhelming secondary. Rodgers will more than likely enter the contest with an extra boost of motivation as Pittsburgh will look to pick up a crucial victory in primetime.

Steelers' Aaron Rodgers Has Historically Been Successful On Sunday Night Football

Pittsburgh's matchup with Green Bay will kick off at 8:20 PM EST. Rodgers has a career record of 21-14 during Sunday night games, as the veteran has proven to play at a very high level during that time slot, despite the added pressure. Rodgers has historically been very successful during Sunday night matchup's and the quarterback will look to continue the trend against his former team.

The Steelers' offense has been excellent in recent weeks. Rodgers has been playing very good football as of late and the veteran may truly thrive on Sunday night given his history. Pittsburgh will look to secure a major victory following the loss to the Cincinnati Bengals as the contest could have major implications on the playoff picture down the road. As mentioned, the veteran spent 18 years of his 21-year career in Green Bay with the Packers and could feel as if he has something to prove throughout the majority of the contest. All eyes will be on Acrisure Stadium on Sunday night as Rodgers and the Steelers' offense will look to continue the recent success.
