The Pittsburgh Steelers were feeling pretty good just a couple of games ago, but now they’ve dropped two straight. It started with a Thursday night loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, and then Pittsburgh fell 35-25 at home on Sunday night to the Green Bay Packers. The Steelers had gone into halftime up 16-7, giving fans hope, but the second half was a completely different story. The Packers dominated, executing at will while Pittsburgh struggled to respond.

The defense, which had been looking for redemption, ended up giving up 454 total yards to Green Bay. Meanwhile, the offense never really found its rhythm, leaving the team looking flat on both sides of the ball. After watching the second half unravel, it’s difficult to even know if the Steelers truly need to trade for a wide receiver at this point. The team’s issues seem deeper than just needing another weapon in the passing game. For example, just look at how poorly this defense played—Jordan Love made history.

One name that has been on the trade block is Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers. On Monday, Steelers General Manager Omar Khan received new details about what it would cost to acquire the Raiders’ veteran pass-catcher via a report from insider Jordan Schultz. With the price now clearer, Pittsburgh faces a decision: double down on adding offensive firepower or focus on shoring up a defense that continues to struggle.
"Sources: Multiple teams have shown interest in trading for Raiders WR Jakobi Meyers, who’s in the final year of his contract and has publicly said he still wants to be traded," Schultz said on his social media on Monday. "However, teams have had a hard time getting a clear read on whether Las Vegas is truly willing to move him. The belief is it would take at least a Day 2 pick for the Raiders to even consider it."
After this new report, Khan now knows for sure that the Raiders are fielding lots of offers for Meyers. However, it sounds like there’s still uncertainty about whether the Raiders actually want to move him.

Meyers definitely wants out and has expressed that desire for quite some time, most recently reaffirming it. Now, Khan and the Steelers’ front office must decide if they believe Meyers is worth a Day 2 pick at this point in the 2025 season.
Steelers' Offense Still Not The Issue
Although the Steelers’ offense wasn’t great on Sunday night and struggled to sustain drives, they weren’t really the main issue. Even if the offense had been more dominant, even with DK Metcalf and another star wide receiver, it wouldn’t have mattered.

The defense gave up seven catches for 143 yards and two touchdowns to Packers tight end Tucker Kraft and allowed Green Bay to control the game. Khan could trade for Meyers or anyone else, but if this defense is going to give up 400+ yards of total offense, nothing else matters. For the first time in years, the defense is holding this team back.
After witnessing what transpired during Sunday night’s 35-25 home loss to the Green Bay Packers, do you think the Steelers even need to trade for a wide receiver at this point? Why or why not?
