Steelers' Aaron Rodgers Gets Brutally Honest About Terrible Week 10 Game

The Pittsburgh Steelers can't play a lot worse than they did on primetime television in Week 10. Against the Los Angeles Chargers on the road, the team performed horribly all game long. The group scored 10 points all game. The field goal came on a drive where the offense did not get a first down, as a bad punt put the collective right by field goal range. The touchdown was a garbage time score, and here was absolutely nothing for Steeler Nation to get excited about at all, and there will be another week of more questions being asked than answers being given.

During his post-game press conference, quarterback Aaron Rodgers took the opportunity to hold himself accountable, along with his entire offense.

"A lot of stuff wasn't working," Rodgers said. "We were bad on third down, I was just a little bit off. I missed DK early, could've been a big play, a little high to Jonnu, but yeah, we didn't run the ball super effectively in the first half. I missed, obviously, some throws for sure, and then we weren't getting guys open and just put it all together. The times the guys were open, I missed some throws I usually make."

There is just no way to sugarcoat this or take anything positive from the game. The offense wasn't at its best; the defense wasn't great, but it's hard for that unit to be when Rodgers' unit was having trouble getting things going all game long. For the most part, nobody on that side of the ball played well, and there is not a single person that does not deserve some sort of blame for how poor everything was.

Even Head Coach Mike Tomlin could not defend Rodgers afterwards, as he tried to deflect blame as much as he could without saying the quarterback underperformed in his post-game press conference. He got snarky with a reporter and kept refusing to throw Rodgers under the bus publicly, but he still knows that the performance is completely unacceptable and it can't happen again.

Rodgers was able to pad his stats in garbage time, but for a large chunk of the game, his completion percentage was under 50%. He was overthrowing guys all over the place, and he held on to the ball a bit too long. It's definitely the kind of game that makes fans question if he is washed up or not, but hopefully, he can silence all those doubters with a quick rebound in Week 11.

Steelers Offense Proves That It Has 1 Major Crutch In Recent Loss

After their win against the Indianapolis Colts, many fans started questioning if the Steelers needed multiple takeaways just to have a chance at winning. Forcing turnovers makes it easier to win, but there is still the idea that good teams find ways to win, even when things are not going their way, like with the turnover battle. That narrative came back in this contest.

The Steelers have lost three of their last four games. In each of their losses, they failed to record a takeaway. They recorded six of them in their one win, but they only won by seven points. The only win that they didn't take the ball away repeatedly was against the Cleveland Browns at home, but the franchise typically beats its division rival in the Steel City.

Outside of that Week 6 game on Thursday Night Football, the offense has not shown the ability to move the football without being aided by the defense. The more they lose these types of games, the more this narrative will grow. Truly great teams can win playoff games, even if they don't get a takeaway. That will haunt the Steelers until they have some sort of massive shakeup on both sides of the ball.
