Steelers Are In Legitimate Trouble After Loss To Bears As Signs Of An Unraveling Are Blatant

The Pittsburgh Steelers have dropped four of their last six games after losing on the road to the Chicago Bears on Sunday by a score of 31-28. The contest saw the offense turn the ball over twice, while the defense struggled to get off of the field aside from a defensive touchdown early on in the game. Considering everything that went wrong and how poorly the team looked in all three phases of the game at times, it is a miracle Pittsburgh only wound up losing the game by three points and had a chance to win at the end.

The Steelers got off to a great start to the 2025 season as the franchise got out to a quick lead in the AFC North. Pittsburgh was 4-1 at one point while the Baltimore Ravens were 1-5, but after Sunday's loss, the Steelers are now out of a playoff spot for the first time in 2025 and the Ravens took over the lead in the AFC North. It is hard to imagine Pittsburgh will be able to reclaim the division due to the tough schedule that lies ahead, and team insider Gerry Dulac shared during an appearance on WDVE that there is a sense of defeat within the locker room.

"I think that one hurt a little more," Dulac said. "A little more hushed in the locker room. I don't know if that's a byproduct of being on the road or not. I don't really think so, but I noticed that. They're not the type of team to panic, but the losses are mounting, and that's four in the last six games."

The Pittsburgh fan base has gotten use to the late-season collapses that usually come with the Steelers, and it is just hitting a little earlier in 2025. Four losses in six games is unacceptable, and it is the reason this team will likely not make the postseason. The team has one of the harder remaining schedules in the league, and the players are well aware of what is ahead of them.

Pittsburgh faces a tough road ahead as the team has two games left against Baltimore, a game against the Buffalo Bills, and another against the Detroit Lions. The two easier games left on the schedule come against the Cleveland Browns and the Miami Dolphins, although there is a world where those games get lost as well.

There is a chance that the fan base sees a disappointing version of the team moving forward. Something similar to what was seen in the middle of Pittsburgh's losing streak to end the 2024 season. Players potentially showing less effort as a rough streak continues on. Head Coach Mike Tomlin will probably always have his team competing at a high level, but that is going to get harder to do as playoff chances continue to dwindle with each passing week.

Steelers Will Have A Difficult Test To Get Back On Track

The Steelers will be playing the Bills in Week 13, and that means the defense will be taking on reigning league MVP Josh Allen. He has not had the best year in 2025, but he is always dangerous and has the ability to tear a defense apart. The last time Pittsburgh took on Allen and the Bills was back at the end of the 2023 season as Allen destroyed the Steelers in the first round of the postseason, and the Steelers are looking for a different result this time around. Hopefully quarterback Aaron Rodgers can return to the starting lineup for this game, but the contest will likely come down to the Pittsburgh defense slowing Allen down.
