The Pittsburgh Steelers seem to be incredibly happy with the deal they made previously with the Indianapolis Colts, where they gave up a sixth-round compensatory pick in exchange for wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. and a seventh-rounder. All in all, it's a very low-risk deal that could potentially jump-start the offense and open up the passing game much more than before. It's the exact kind of deal that general managers like to make: the one where they get a quality player without giving up any real assets -- and it could happen again.

While making an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, NFL insider Ian Rapoport was asked about potential draft day player trades, and he brought up another Colts player that the Steelers may be very intrigued by.
"The Colts and Kenny Moore had agreed that they should seek a trade," Rapoport said. "That's the kind of guy who generally gets traded on Saturday of the draft."
Cornerback Kenny Moore II has had an all-around productive career so far, but as Rapoport mentioned, he and the Colts have collectively decided that it would be best for them to part ways, and they hope to do so via a trade, as opposed to him just being released. Expectations are that General Manager Chris Ballard will not be able to get much of a return on him, but something is better than nothing.

Moore is very versatile, as he has played all three cornerback spots in his career. He could be a backup on the outside while seeing some more work in the slot when necessary. He could end up getting the Jalen Ramsey treatment, where he gets some work at safety to help extend his career as well. Either way, he is a quality player, and he should cost very little in a deal at this point.

If this trade does go down like Rapoport expects, it will happen on Day 3 of the 2026 NFL Draft, and it will likely either be a late-round pick swap, a swap of 2027 picks, or just one late pick for Moore, like a sixth- or seventh-round selection. Just like with the Pittman deal, this is exactly the kind of low-risk, high-reward trade that the Steelers love to do, so there is probably some intrigue from that point of view.
Steelers Want To Keep Adding To An Already Stacked DB Room
General Manager Omar Khan has made it known how much he values depth at the defensive back position. He described defensive backs as being the most injury-prone position in the NFL, so he wants to keep adding there in case more injuries pop up and he gets proven right. Just because Pittsburgh has plenty of quality cornerbacks doesn't mean he's done with that group yet.

Sure, the Steelers already have Ramsey to step in and play whatever position he is asked to and Brandin Echols is a quality slot corner that can hold his own in most games. Pittsburgh would still find a way to make sure Moore can contribute to this defense and raise the ceiling. Once someone unfortunately gets injured like Khan predicts, Moore will have his exact role determined.
What do you think about the Steelers possibly trading for Moore on Day 3 of the upcoming draft, as well as the Steelers seeking defensive back as a big need for injury reasons? Let us know on X at @Steelers_ChrisB.
