The Pittsburgh Steelers have rounded out their 2026 draft class. This was a highly anticipated event for the franchise due to the fact that it was being hosted in Pittsburgh, and that the organization is at a pivotal point when it comes to roster building. The Steelers had some clear weaknesses on the roster entering the draft, and it seems as though the franchise has done a good job addressing some of the main issues. Picks such as offensive tackle Max Iheanachor, wide receiver Germie Bernard, and quarterback Drew Allar highlight this year's class in which Pittsburgh had more draft capital than any other team in the league.

The Steelers had a good amount of picks on the third day of the event. These picks are often overlooked by fans, but it is important that organization's can find some value in this area. Finding high impact players in the seventh round of the draft can help a roster out dramatically, and Pittsburgh is hoping it did that with its two seventh-round picks, safety Robert Spears-Jennings out of Oklahoma and running back Eli Heidenreich out of Navy.

These two join a crowded rookie class in Pittsburgh, but the selections do address needs. It was always thought that the Steelers would go after a safety in the draft, and that thought was confirmed with the selection of Spears-Jennings. Heidenreich is an exciting selection for the Steelers as well as he has the potential to be a weapon on offense.

Spears-Jennings spent his entire college career at Oklahoma, and he was a contributor for most of his time with the program. He is known as a fierce tackler, and he also recorded two interceptions throughout his career. He stayed active around the line of scrimmage with tackles for loss and quarterback pressures.

Heidenreich is a versatile weapon who set plenty of records during his time at Navy. He will be seen as a potential special teams contributor to begin with, but he could make a mark on offense as well.

Pittsburgh's draft class is now final, barring some sort of trade back into the bottom of the draft, which seems unlikely. It is an exciting class for Pittsburgh, but now it is time to see if the rookies can contribute.
What do you think of Pittsburgh's final selections? What are your thoughts on the draft class as a whole? Did things go how you thought they might? Let me know on X, @brogannoey!
