Pittsburgh Steelers fans have been disappointed with former third-round pick Roman Wilson's involvement in the offense so far in his young career. Despite being arguably the single-best separator on the team in 2025, he got benched due to falling out of favor with either Aaron Rodgers, the coaching staff, or a combination of both. At this point, he is fighting for snaps and a half-decent spot on the depth chart. If he struggles to develop and gain favor with his peers again in 2026, he could soon be fighting for a spot on the 53-man roster as a whole.

Like most players, Wilson has total confidence in himself to do what he needs to finally take that next step forward. After Day 4 of Organized Team Activities (OTAs), he spoke about one man that has been helping him get to where he wants to be, as transcribed by TribLive.
"Coach [Adam] Henry has been a real blessing," Wilson said. "I really like him a lot. He is a great coach, has been in the league for a long time, and he’s been with a lot of good players. It’s been nice to pick his [brain]. He’s just got so much experience."
Wide Receivers Coach Adam Henry has a ton of experience. In the past, he has worked with great, young receivers like Odell Beckham Jr. and CeeDee Lamb, so he definitely knows what to do with great talent at the position. He previously worked with current head coach Mike McCarthy for a couple years with the Dallas Cowboys, so the two already have a solid relationship.

There is no doubt that Wilson has plenty of talent. He is a high-quality route runner with solid speed and sure hands. However, it does not feel like he has been given a proper chance, and the exact reason why has not necessarily been revealed. It's certainly not for his work ethic, as that is also one of his best traits. There's so much untapped potential there that someone like Henry might be able to help unlock.
Steelers Will See If Rookie Can Leapfrog Wilson
Of course, Wilson is not the only young wideout looking for a blessing to help him get on the field. He and second-round pick Germie Bernard will be in direct competition to see who will win the WR3 job and get some consistent looks throughout the season. With the former third-round pick already being in the doghouse, it may be hard for him to gain that advantage.

At the same time, it has become well known that Rodgers does not take kindly to many rookies, so Bernard will have an uphill battle to earn the quarterback's trust and get on his good side. While Wilson's one year with him was not exactly great, he knows what the 42-year-old wants and expects out of him. That could be what he needs to get on the field and show how great he truly is.
There's no question that Henry has a very talented group of receivers to work with this season. The good news for him and his players is that McCarthy's system relies on having three capable wideouts on the field at the same time. There will be plenty of opportunities for Bernard, Wilson, and others to get some reps in during games, whether that's as starters, or as depth pieces when someone needs a breather.
Henry may be a blessing, but it's up to these receivers to take full advantage of it and learn as much as possible. Wilson has shown that he's willing to put the work in; he just needs to put it all together now.
What do you think about Wilson calling Henry a "blessing" as he works to get on the field? Let us know on X at @Steelers_ChrisB.
