The Pittsburgh Steelers' decision to go all-in on Aaron Rodgers for the 2025 season was met with plenty of skepticism. Many questioned what bringing in one of the NFL's most polarizing figures at this stage of his career would mean for the culture inside the locker room. However, Rodgers quickly silenced those doubts.

In his first season in Pittsburgh, Rodgers emerged as a respected leader and embraced a role that many never expected from him. He did not have to go above and beyond for the Steelers fan base. He was simply there to play football. Yet, despite his complicated public image, Rodgers became one of the team's most influential voices.

That transformation has not stopped some critics from questioning him. NFL insider Mike Florio has remained skeptical of Rodgers throughout his career, even as the veteran quarterback's leadership in the Steel City has continued to earn praise. Now, as Rodgers enters what he has announced will be his final NFL season in 2026, the future Hall of Famer appears to be embracing one last ride.

Rodgers recently took six Steelers teammates, Michael Pittman Jr., Ben Skowronek, Roman Wilson, Mason Rudolph, DK Metcalf, and Pat Freiermuth, on a private bonding trip dubbed "The Last Rodeo." Rodgers shared moments from the trip on Instagram, labeling it "Bonding Week." While many viewed the trip as a sign of team chemistry and camaraderie, Florio raised some intriguing questions about what it could mean for Rodgers and the Steelers heading into the 2026 season.

"He made it clear, I mean look at the caption, 'Last Rodeo' and Bonding Week, and that's good," Florio said. "I wonder how that guest list was determined? Slightly more exclusive than that Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift wedding invitation list. Were there other players invited who couldn't make it? Are there members of the team that are wondering, where is mine? Why didn't I get invited? Why am I not there? You wonder. You wonder how many more feel like they should have been invited and didn't get invited."

After Steeler Nation did some internal research, it was quickly noticed that QB Will Howard, a big name who wasn't there, generated tons of rumblings about why.

It seems he posted on his Instagram story that he was at a wedding, so that may explain why he wasn't there.

"The photos all speak to hanging out and spending time together," Florio said. "Riding horses around the campfire, smoking cigarettes. That sounds like a pretty good party to me. The point in mentioning it is, Aaron Rodgers isn't very public with a lot of stuff and he gets upset when we speculate on what he's doing. So when he injects into the stream of consciousness something he's doing, we may as well talk about it."

Florio has always been somewhat harsh on Rodgers. He does not tend to believe him and does not always understand why Rodgers claims he hates the spotlight while continuing to find himself in situations like this.

He brings up some fair questions, but it appears that Rodgers' team bonding event should be celebrated more than viewed as a negative. He clearly brought his pass catchers along with Rudolph, a backup quarterback. He was not likely to bring Drew Allar, but Howard likely would have received an invitation.

Steelers fans and pundits can continue to speculate, but the players who were there certainly built a stronger bond with their quarterback during what they hope will be a special final ride for Rodgers.
