The Pittsburgh Steelers were able to secure a much-needed win in Week 5 as the team was able to take down the Indianapolis Colts by a score of 34-22. It was probably the team's best game so far in the 2026 season, but the defense still left a lot to be desired as the secondary and pass rush couldn't really get going. The offense was able to control the game for the Steelers aside from a few bad drives; and quarterback Aaron Rodgers probably played his best game of the season so far. He threw for three touchdowns in the contest and kept the ball out of harm's way.

Rodgers has been playing great over the last three games for the Steelers. The team is 2-1 during that time, and the veteran quarterback has thrown for three touchdown passes in three consecutive games. This was a game the Steelers had to win after dropping a game to the Cleveland Browns in Week 4, and it was good to see the group get back on track.
Head Coach Mike McCarthy and Rodgers have gotten into it a few times during the 2026 season, with the most notable incident coming on Thursday Night Football in Week 4. The broadcast caught the two throwing expletives at one another, and they each downplayed the situation throughout the last week. McCarthy spoke to the media after beating the Colts, and he showed his quarterback a ton of love for the way he played on Sunday.
"I thought Aaron did a great job of staying on time." McCarthy said. "I thought his pocket presence was excellent, his ability to move with his feet and make plays out of the pocket was exactly what we needed. I didn't really move him a whole lot in the passing game so I thought he did a really nice job in the A and B gap escapes and things like that."
Everyone seemed to be on the same page offensively during the win over the Colts, which was not the case at points during the loss to the Browns in Week 4. The group needs to find a way to put together strong performances like this more consistently, which is something the team has been able to do more often as of late. Aside from the second and third quarters in the loss in Cleveland, the offense has been strong.

Rodgers seemed to be having fun during the win over the Colts, which is something that helps the offense. When he is having success and on the same page with his teammates everything moves smoother. Pittsburgh had a few three and outs in the win, but the offense and Rodgers put together an extremely complete game. If the group can play like this moving forward, the Steelers could be a legitimate player in the AFC as long as the defense can put forth a somewhat better performance.
Steelers Need To Carry This Exact Offensive Momentum Forward
Pittsburgh travels to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 6, and fans will be watching to see if the offense can continue to play the way it has recently. Tampa Bay has some momentum after picking up its first win of the season in Week 4, and the defense of the Buccaneers ranks in the top half of the league.
It will be a challenge for the Steelers to have another strong offensive performance, but the group has momentum behind Rodgers and running back Jaylen Warren. The balance between the running game and the passing game has been pristine, and it is a big reason for the recent success offensively.
What did you think of Rodgers' performance against the Colts on Sunday? Do you think the offense can carry this momentum forward? Let me know on X, @brogannoey!
