The Pittsburgh Steelers wide receivers continue to be very inconsistent despite the 2026 offseason additions. Even with Michael Pittman Jr. and Germie Bernard coming into the picture, along with a new offensive scheme, separation remains a major issue. Aaron Rodgers is taking a ton of sacks because he can't find an open target, and at 42, he won't be able to absorb big hits much longer.

Recently, Adam Schefter reported that the Arizona Cardinals would move on from former fourth overall pick, wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., but did not say which team would acquire him. Harrison has the athletic traits and was a blue-chip prospect at Ohio State, but hasn't been able to put it together at the professional level. Still, many in Steeler Nation believed the Steelers could land Harrison after Sunday's games.
Mark Kaboly recently posted on X that the Harrison trade would be finalized Sunday or Monday and said the Steelers weren't the team trading for him. Despite the need at wide receiver, Pittsburgh is choosing not to give up any premium draft capital for a player who has been a bust so far in his career.
"Marvin Harrison Jr.'s trade will become official either later today or on Monday. Harrison is NOT coming to the Steelers, I've been told."
The Steelers don't have much young talent on the roster, but Harrison could have potentially changed that. At just 24, he could still blossom into the player he was projected to be. Pittsburgh's top two wide receivers are both 28 and 29 years old, respectively, and the room could use some more youth outside of Roman Wilson and Bernard. While Harrison sounds good on paper, the team would be adding a pass catcher who has the same problems that the current group already has.

Throughout his career, Harrison has struggled to create separation in man coverage and also dropped passes. So far this season, he has just five catches for 85 yards and one touchdown. He's a big-bodied target and, because of his size, doesn't move well through his routes and struggles when he can't body the defender. While Harrison still oozes with potential, he likely wouldn't solve any major issues in Pittsburgh.
Steelers Still Need Wide Receiver Help
With Pittman going to Injured Reserve (IR) and Bernard's potential uncertain, the Steelers once again might need a wide receiver. Metcalf's play has picked up over the past two games, and maybe he can start to live up to his huge contract.
However, the team may want to add another target who can get open against man coverage. The organization has plenty of picks in the next two drafts, and whether they use them is anyone's guess, but if they do, a wide receiver should be on the list of potential moves.
