Steelers Insider Predicts A New Face Acquired By Pittsburgh "In The Coming Days" As Trade Deadline Approaches

The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of the most likely teams to make a big move before the November 10th trade deadline. The team is in desperate need of talent and depth at the wide receiver position and has been rumored to be one of the top candidates to get a deal done in the coming days. Wide receivers Roman Wilson and Michael Pittman Jr. are currently on injured reserve and there have been minimal updates on their status. Plenty of names have been tossed around in connection with Pittsburgh, but one thing is for sure: the team needs help.

The wide receiver position has been one of the most confusing in Pittsburgh for the past few seasons. Steelers fans were shocked when the team decided to deal George Pickens, an up-and-coming star at the time, to the Dallas Cowboys. This move came immediately after Pittsburgh traded for DK Metcalf, giving fans about a week of hope that this duo would create something special.

In 2025, Pittsburgh's wide receiver room consisted of a rotation of low-end veterans and young, inexperienced players. So far, the 2026 season has looked like more of the same.

Rookie wide receiver Germie Bernard has been the one bright spot in this mess of a position group, as he is already turning heads just seven games into his NFL career. He has seemingly gained quarterback Aaron Rodgers' trust, which is hard to do for a player of his age and experience.

Aside from Bernard and Metcalf, who has struggled in his own ways, Pittsburgh has received virtually no contributions from any other wide receivers on the roster. This has led to the organization being at the top of the list of NFL teams that are in search of a wide receiver. The Steelers have been linked to plenty of players of all ages and skill sets, with Josh Downs of the Indianapolis Colts being the most recent headline. The Colts are currently in the middle of selling off some of their top players, which could bode well for Pittsburgh's chances of acquiring the young wideout.

During a recent episode of Kaboly + Mack Live, Steelers insider Mark Kaboly hinted at a potential time period in which the team could make a move for a wide receiver.

"I would say early to middle of next week will be the sweet spot for a move to get done," Kaboly said. "It will not last until the weekend. I would imagine they get something done in the coming days. If you acquire somebody during the bye week span, it would be the ideal time to get him acclimated to everything. Keep your alerts on early next week."

It seems like Steelers fans should be preparing to see a new face in Pittsburgh in the next five days or so, as Kaboly's comments make sense with the Steelers' bye week coming up after their Week 8 contest against the rival Cleveland Browns. The offense's performance in Week 8 could influence General Manager Omar Khan to make a deal even sooner.

The Steelers have the chance to take control of the AFC North in Week 8 if they can get their revenge on the Browns. Pittsburgh would then control its own destiny for the remainder of the season, which would be a great position to be in considering the division is one of the toughest in the NFL. The wide receiver play on Sunday could determine the severity of the need for a wide receiver, so a lot is riding on this contest for Pittsburgh.

Steelers Can Go Multiple Directions At Wide Receiver

While Pittsburgh needs all the help it can get at the wide receiver position, there are multiple options on the table. There are a couple of young names that are seemingly on the trade block, like Downs and Brian Thomas Jr. If the Steelers want to make a splash by acquiring a young, talented wide receiver, they will need to consider the fact that Metcalf and Pittman Jr. are already being paid big money for the next few seasons. If the organization decides to go after a veteran, there is a chance that the move could resemble the team's 2025 approach, with the potential addition failing to make a significant impact. Whatever happens, it will be surprising if the team does not add another wide receiver in the next week or so.
