The Pittsburgh Steelers have one of the most underwhelming quarterback rooms in the entire NFL. This currently consists of Mason Rudolph, Skylar Thompson and Will Howard The Steelers' quarterback room faces major depth issues along with having no true starting quarterback at the team's disposal. After failing to re-sign both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, the Steelers may find themselves with a legitimate chance at having a rookie be their starting quarterback in Week 1.

Steelers' Mason Rudolph hypes up the crowd in a home game in Pittsburgh.

Howard, who was drafted with the 185th pick in the sixth round, is a five year college veteran who spent time at both Kansas State and Ohio State. After winning a National Championship during his final season as a Buckeye, Howard has reportedly shown major signs of improvement and is expected to compete with Rudolph for the teams starting role.

With the current state of the Steelers' quarterback room, many people from all around the league have expressed their frustrations and concerns with Pittsburgh's offense all over social media. Most Notably, NFL analyst Colin Cowherd weighed in on the Steelers' situation.

"I can't quite figure the Steelers out." Cowherd stated. "They want character, but nobody's had more divas and high maintenance guys than the Steelers. They want to win, but then they don't take care of the number one position. I feel like there's a messaging issue in the building and [regarding] Omar Khan - my sources don't consider him a great general manager."

As the Steelers continue to look for answers at the quarterback position, the team continues to wait for an answer from free agent quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers, a four-time MVP and 20 year veteran, would prove to be one of the biggest additions of the entire offseason.

Despite having his greatest years already behind him, Rodgers could add some serious fire power and play making ability to the Steelers' offense. As the Steelers continue to address depth issues in the quarterback room, the team finds themselves with similar problems in the wide receiver room as well.

Steelers' Offensive Woes Linger Outside Of Quarterback Room

After trading star wide receiver George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys, the Steelers now find themselves with no real receiver depth outside of DK Metcalf. Metcalf, who was acquired by Pittsburgh after a trade with the Seattle Seahawks earlier in the offseason, is expected to play a major role on the Steelers' offense in 2025.

With the rest of the wide receiver room consisting of Calvin Austin lll, Roman Wilson and Robert Woods, the Steelers are expected to look into multiple big names that are still available on the free agency market.

One name who may emerge as a major target for the Steelers is Amari Cooper. Cooper, who was traded from the Cleveland Browns to the Buffalo Bills in 2024, would add instant production to the Steelers' offense and would fit perfectly as Pittsburgh's wide receiver two behind Metcalf. Cooper, similar to Rodgers, is a player that is past his prime but can still play an extremely important role on any team.

Another player who may emerge as a perfect fit for the Steelers is former Bear Keenan Allen. Allen, who spent last season with Chicago, is one of the top wide receivers still on the market and would be an elite wide receiver two behind Metcalf.

Allen is a six-time Pro Bowler and twelve year NFL veteran that has proved to be a threat in every stage of his career. With multiple receivers still available via free agency, the Steelers may opt to evaluate the talent that is already on the roster as well, as Austin lll and Wilson have reportedly impressed multiple members of the Pittsburgh coaching staff throughout the offseason.
