Steelers General Manager Omar Khan picks up the phone in the team's war room during the 2023 NFL Draft weekend.
One of the most anticipated moments came when Steelers General Manager Omar Khan joined McAfee on set. Khan received a loud and enthusiastic welcome from the crowd, a reflection of how much support and appreciation he has earned early in his tenure. His presence added even more energy to the event, and fans were eager to hear what he had to say about the team's direction and future.
Despite all the praise he has received, Khan made a serious and revealing statement during his time on the show. He downplayed the credit coming his way and made it clear that the only thing that matters is bringing a championship back to Pittsburgh. His no-nonsense mindset struck a chord with fans, many of whom left feeling more confident than ever about the team's leadership and potential heading into the season.
"Well, with respect to the credit, until we win a Super Bowl, I don’t really deserve any credit," Khan said. "The reality is that our goal is to win a Super Bowl this year. Every move we make is reflective of that, and we understand we can’t sacrifice the future."
The Steelers were advised by the fan base to focus on the future, with many fans wanting the team to enter a full rebuild. Khan, however, chose a different path. He set out to improve the roster for the 2025 season while keeping an eye on long-term success.
Khan managed to add talent at several key positions, and many pundits believe the Steelers made significant progress during the 2025 offseason. He did all of this while protecting the team's future, securing an expected 12 draft picks for the 2026 NFL Draft. This gives the Steelers valuable flexibility and depth moving forward.

Omar Khan and Steelers Owner Dan Rooney share a celebratory moment following the team’s victory in Super Bowl XLIII, marking one of the most iconic achievements in franchise history.
Even with all the praise surrounding him, Khan has made it clear that he does not want to be celebrated yet. He believes the true measure of success will come when his vision leads to a Lombardi Trophy in Pittsburgh.
"We want a Super Bowl this year," Khan said. "The moves that we made and how we structured these contracts is with that goal in mind… You never say you are done, but I really like the group that we have here. We have done a lot this offseason, but we will see. If there’s ever an opportunity to improve the team, we will think about it and talk about it, but we feel good about the team, Pat."
The Steelers’ fan base has grown increasingly frustrated with the fact that Mike Tomlin has not won a playoff game since the 2016 season. In Pittsburgh, the standard has always been measured by Super Bowl titles, not just regular season success. While Tomlin’s streak of 18 straight non-losing seasons is impressive, fans feel that consistency alone is no longer enough.

For a franchise with such a storied history, postseason results carry the most weight. The expectation is not just to compete, but to win meaningful games in January and February. Many believe the team has fallen short of that expectation in recent years, and the pressure to deliver has only continued to grow.
