The Pittsburgh Steelers are going into the 2026 season with an optimistic outlook when it comes to the offense. The new unit is being run by Head Coach Mike McCarthy, which is going to bring a refreshing and updated look to the offense. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers is obviously familiar with the offense being brought in by McCarthy due to their time together with the Green Bay Packers, and the veteran is also a big fan of the personnel moves that were made on the offensive side of the ball. All eyes are going to be on that group due to the coaching change, and the expectations for that unit are higher than they have been in the last few seasons.

Rodgers played well for Pittsburgh in 2025, especially when considering who he was throwing the ball to throughout the year. He has an upgraded arsenal going into 2026, and he is also entering his second season with some of these guys which brings some more comfort and familiarity. He gets to work with players like DK Metcalf, Roman Wilson, and Pat Freiermuth again while also familiarizing himself with new additions like Michael Pittman Jr., Germie Bernard, and Kaden Wetjen.
The veteran quarterback took some of his pass catchers on a secluded retreat to the Tetons before training camp, and the group bonded and got some training done. This certainly helped build camaraderie and allowed the group to grow tighter, and the quarterback talked about it during an appearance on Mad Dog Sports Radio on Tuesday.
"A big thing for us, the guys this year didn't want to do a throwing camp, they wanted to do an experience," Rodgers said. "So we took a trip, and all the guys had different posts about it. We took a trip out to the Teton mountain range. We had a long, long weekend of doing outdoor stuff. Fishing, shooting guns, hanging out, and riding horses. More than that though, it was the time we spent around the food table and fire pit. Telling stories, getting to know one another."
Before training camp in 2025, the quarterback and many of his pass catchers got together to do a bit of a throwing camp, this time around the group wanted to get away. They went on a mountain trip that was posted about heavily, and everyone seemed to leave the trip a better teammate.

Steelers' Offense Grew Closer
Metcalf, Pittman, Freiermuth, Wilson, Ben Skowronek and Mason Rudolph all seemed to be in attendance on the trip to the Tetons. A lot was made of it on social media, and it might be the reason that the offense can get off to a hot start in 2026. Rodgers noted that the guys that went on the trip had strong camps.
"Some of us had something come up and couldn't make it," Rodgers said. "But I really feel like in those four or five days, I learned more about DK and Roman and Pat and Mason and Ben and Michael then the guys I was with for those six months. I feel like we came back from that and there was an even tighter bond. Say what you want, I don't believe in a bunch of coincidences. Of the guys I mentioned, three of those guys had unbelievable camps. DK, Roman, and Pat, all three of those guys had phenomenal camps."
Rodgers specifically mentioned Metcalf, Wilson, and Freiermuth as guys who have stood out to him. That is especially good news when it comes to Wilson and Freiermuth. Wilson has struggled to gain his footing in the NFL, and the fan base has been begging for Freiermuth to be more involved in the passing game for years. Pittman would likely be included in that group as well, but he missed a lot of time with an injury.
