The Pittsburgh Steelers are rolling right now, winning four straight games. They delivered a statement victory over the Cleveland Browns in Week 8 to take sole possession of the AFC North. If the Steelers can continue to win games, especially against divisional opponents, they will find themselves hosting a playoff game in the 2026 NFL postseason. The team has been firing on all cylinders, with the rushing attack and defense taking over games. The talented roster has been playing well, but the new coaching staff under Head Coach Mike McCarthy might be the key to the current success.

The Steelers look like one of the hottest teams in the AFC currently, being tied with the Denver Broncos for the longest winning streak in the league. Pittsburgh has had some narrow victories this season, but Week 8 was not one of them. The Browns came into Pittsburgh and got absolutely steamrolled, losing 27-6 in a contest that the Steelers dominated from start to finish. The Steelers controlled the trenches throughout the game with the help of their improving offensive and defensive lines.
Pittsburgh's pass rush is finally starting to look like the unit that the team envisioned, with the defense recording a whopping 8 sacks in Week 8. The secondary continues to impress, which is refreshing to see as this unit was believed to be a weakness for the team after Joey Porter Jr. was traded to the Dallas Cowboys. Linebackers Payton Wilson and Patrick Queen are both playing their best football in the Black and Gold, and it could not have come at a better time.
The offense is humming, finally being able to consistently push the ball down the field, something that Steelers fans have not seen for quite some time. The running game, led by running backs Jaylen Warren and Rico Dowdle, has undoubtedly been the team's biggest strength this season, especially with the young offensive line becoming one of the best in the NFL. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers is still delivering efficient play at age 42, as he has been able to deliver big plays when the team needs them the most. The pass-catching group has been up and down, but with the possible return of wide receiver Roman Wilson, the group could receive a huge boost. Pittsburgh has also been at the center of trade rumors regarding some of the wide receivers who could be moved ahead of the November 10 trade deadline.
During a recent episode of Kaboly + Mack Live, Steelers insider Mark Kaboly spoke about the team's current health status and what the coaching staff has done for the team.
"They are going into the bye week relatively healthy," Kaboly said. "They will probably get Roman Wilson and Ben Skowronek back soon. Imagine this defense when Derrick Harmon comes back... I think McCarthy really needs a lot of credit, not just for his performance as the head coach, but with the entire coaching staff that he has put together."
There was a lot of skepticism surrounding McCarthy's hiring, as he did not initially seem like the type of head coach this team needed to prepare for the future. All concerns have been set aside, as McCarthy has the team rolling to a 6-2 record heading into the bye week, with a remaining schedule that does not look as daunting as it did before the season started.

The Steelers look like a more complete team than they have been in many seasons. Whether it is the talented roster that Omar Khan has put together or the outstanding first-year coaching staff that McCarthy has assembled, everything has come together, and Pittsburgh looks like one of the most dangerous teams in the conference.
Steelers' Defense Is Living Up To Its Payroll
Pittsburgh's defense is the most expensive in the NFL, something that has been the case across multiple seasons. Over the past few years, the defense has always had a leak or two that ended up being a major flaw in the unit and becoming detrimental to the team's success. 2026 has been different, as every level of the defense has played elite football. This unit, combined with the smash-mouth ground game, could be the recipe for Pittsburgh to secure its first playoff victory since 2017.
