Pittsburgh Steelers fans had to watch another Super Bowl knowing just how far away their beloved team is from the confetti game. Super Bowl LIX featuring the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles had a lot of hype as it was a rematch of their meeting where the Chiefs beat the Eagles.

On Sunday, the Eagles did whatever they wanted, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes looked horrible, and the Eagles won the Super Bowl. Football fans weren’t overly joyed to see such a boring game, but it was wild to see the Eagles dominate the Chiefs. Everyone loves the Super Bowl for its commercials, and during the Super Bowl on Sunday night, there was a commercial broadcast that slammed Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin. The commercial was from the Roman Now Law Group, and their ad poked fun at Tomlin’s recent struggles.

The Steelers have long been a model of stability under Tomlin, but that consistency has led to growing frustration as the team continues to fall short in the playoffs. The commercial took a direct shot at the Steelers' recent lack of postseason success, implying that Pittsburgh is no longer the powerhouse it once was. While Tomlin has never had a losing season, the ad highlighted that simply making the playoffs isn’t enough when a franchise is defined by Super Bowl victories.

Steelers fans have grown increasingly frustrated with the organization as a whole. Nearly every decision is scrutinized, and in many cases, rightfully so. The team has developed a habit of straying from what has worked in the past and instead embracing strategies that repeatedly fail. Watching a Tomlin-led team in recent years has felt like the definition of insanity—doing the same thing every offseason while expecting different results.

Despite the frustration, many fans still appreciate Tomlin’s greatness. He remains a beloved figure in Pittsburgh, even as his recent shortcomings become harder to ignore. Tomlin’s streak of 18 consecutive seasons without a losing record is an incredible accomplishment, but it doesn’t erase the fact that the Steelers haven’t won a playoff game since the 2016 season. As another year passes, Pittsburgh and its fanbase are closing in on a full decade without a postseason victory.

Steelers' Mike Tomlin Has Seriously Struggled In The Playoffs

Tomlin holds an 8-11 record in the playoffs, and a closer look at those wins paints a frustrating picture for Steelers fans. Three of those victories came during the team’s Super Bowl run in 2008, two came in 2010, two more in 2016, and one in 2015. That means in 18 seasons, Tomlin has either missed the playoffs entirely or been eliminated in the first game in 14 of them.

This lack of postseason success is the root of the frustration among Steelers fans. Seeing a commercial during the Super Bowl that openly mocked Tomlin’s failures only added insult to injury for a fan base that has long felt the organization is too complacent. The harsh reality for Steelers fans is that Tomlin isn’t going anywhere.

Barring an unforeseen development, he will return for the 2025 season, and all signs point to the organization sticking with him for as long as he wants to coach. While ownership values his leadership and consistency, many fans believe his message has grown stale and his coaching style is no longer effective in today’s NFL.

The frustration continues to build as Pittsburgh clings to a coach who has not delivered postseason success in nearly a decade, leaving a once-proud franchise stuck in a cycle of mediocrity. Steeler Nation will continue to hope that somehow Tomlin can prove them wrong and turn around this franchise in 2025.
