The Pittsburgh Steelers went into Week 12 at Soldier Field hoping for a much different result. While the Chicago Bears have become a surprisingly difficult team to defeat in the 2025 season, now sitting at 8-3, the Steelers fell to 6-5 after a tough 31-28 loss. Pittsburgh did not play its best football and was without starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Mason Rudolph stepped in, did a respectable job, and kept the team competitive, but it ultimately was not enough for the Steelers to walk out of Soldier Field victorious. The loss cost Pittsburgh its lead in the AFC North, raising the stakes even higher as they prepare to return home for a critical Week 13 matchup against the Buffalo Bills.

To get back on track, the Steelers will need more than improved execution. They will need cleaner coaching, sharper schemes, and better overall structure. Too many drives stalled because of confusion, miscommunication, or simply being outcoached in key moments. The team must find ways to create stability and consistency immediately. The Bills will not overlook Pittsburgh, and the Steelers must respond with discipline, urgency, and a renewed sense of identity if they want to remain in the AFC playoff picture.
Following the loss, several Steelers players openly called out both teammates and the coaching staff, expressing frustration with preparation, accountability, and effort. That level of public criticism is rare in Pittsburgh and it caught the attention of many, including Steelers insider Ray Fittipaldo. Speaking Wednesday on 93.7 The Fan's Morning Show, Fittipaldo explained why he believes this is a worrisome problem for the Black and Gold.
"I know it's only 10 or 15 minutes after a game ends, but when your players feel comfortable enough to say that about the coaching, that's not good," Fittipaldo said while speaking on 93.7 The Fan on Wednesday morning. "Whether it's schematics or personnel, I tend to think it's a little of both, but I mean what they're doing isn't working."
According to him, internal fractures and players questioning leadership can quickly snowball if they are not addressed immediately, and with the Steelers entering a pivotal stretch of the season, these concerns could not come at a worse time.

Fittipaldo continued to explain why he is starting to get very worried that this Steelers team can solve the issues that have plagued them virtually all season.
"We thought they had it fixed for a few weeks when they put [Jalen] Ramsey and [Kyle] Dugger back there, and then it comes unglued again and we're kind of back to square one," Fittipaldo said.
Fittipaldo pointed out that the Steelers moved Jalen Ramsey to safety and also made a trade to acquire Kyle Dugger. For a brief moment, it appeared that Pittsburgh might have found some stability in their secondary, but now Fittipaldo is completely second-guessing that assessment.
Steelers May Get Aaron Rodgers Back For Week 13 Against The Buffalo Bills
The bad news for Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin is that his team appears to be unraveling once again after a solid start to the season. The good news is that Rodgers may be able to play against the Bills.

Steeler Nation will now wait to see what Rodgersβ official status is for the game, but it sounds like he is pushing to take the field.
With everything that has come out, and with insiders now raising alarming concerns about whatβs really happening behind the scenes, Steelers fans have to wonder: Do you believe these locker room issues are a real threat to the season, or is this simply noise that will fade once the team steps back onto the field?
