The Pittsburgh Steelers have everyone once again wondering what is going to happen at the quarterback position. With 12 picks loaded up for the 2026 NFL Draft, hosted in the Steel City for the first time ever in NFL history, the organization, the fan base, and the entire city are buzzing with excitement. Everyone wants to know what the team is going to do. They hold five picks in the top 100, and that has fans even more fired up for the draft.

That is exactly why, when Steelers General Manager Omar Khan spoke at the NFL Scouting Combine, pundits listened closely. One intriguing option that has emerged for the Steelers in the 2026 draft is Miami quarterback Carson Beck, whom the black and gold did indeed host for a top-30 pre-draft visit in the middle of March. Beck is currently projected to be a third-round pick in Matt Miller’s latest mock draft.

With an abundance of picks and a clear need for young quarterback talent on the roster, many are wondering if Khan and Mike McCarthy might take a stab at Beck in the third round or later if he were to fall. Khan’s comments about Beck at the Combine are now drawing concern from some within Steeler Nation, who are feeling a bit gun-shy about the idea of reaching on another quarterback in what is widely considered a relatively weak quarterback class. Khan told Brooke Pryor this when asked what stands out about Beck and why Pittsburgh is intrigued.

"You can't hide from production," Khan told Pryor while speaking about him at the NFL Combine. "So, when a guy produces -- and he's done that at a high level or at a big school -- and winning's important, so you can't deny any of that."

Beck is 23 years old and brings six years of college experience, having played five seasons at Georgia before transferring to Miami for his final year. During his time with the Hurricanes, he helped lead them to a national championship game appearance. While he did not win the title, he played a key role in navigating a difficult College Football Playoff run.

Beck’s experience under winning coaches and within proven systems over more than half a decade is certainly something Steelers fans should consider. Although he may not be the popular choice now, he was once viewed as a potential No. 1 overall pick before his stock dipped following some struggles in big moments. However, Beck showed signs of redemption during the 2025 college football season, reminding scouts of the talent that once made him a top prospect. Now, the Steelers could find themselves in position to take a serious look at a young quarterback like Beck.

Steelers Still Waiting On Aaron Rodgers

The Steelers’ quarterback room is already shaping up to be one of the more intriguing storylines of the 2026 offseason. Pittsburgh is currently awaiting a decision from Aaron Rodgers and what he plans to do moving forward. Many around the league are unsure whether Rodgers intends to play, but if he does return, it would be for the 2026 season. He joined Pittsburgh for the 2025 campaign, where the results were solid as the Steelers finished 10-7 and captured the AFC North. However, their playoff drought continued, now stretching beyond a decade.

The Steelers also added Will Howard in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, hoping they could develop him into something special. The organization views him as a potential diamond-in-the-rough, a low-risk, high-reward developmental quarterback. Meanwhile, Mason Rudolph remains in the mix, though he has largely settled into a career backup role. Ultimately, everything still hinges on Rodgers’ decision, but if Khan’s recent comments are any indication, Pittsburgh may not hesitate to take a shot on another young quarterback later in the draft.
