The Pittsburgh Steelers have been playing well in recent weeks, despite being without veteran wide receivers Michael Pittman Jr. and Roman Wilson. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers helped to orchestrate a late comeback last week, despite the offense looking lifeless for three quarters against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. As the team gets ready to take on the New Orleans Saints in Paris, France they have a big chance to take advantage of their schedule despite injuries. Should they continue to take care of business, history will be on their side for making the playoffs. A trend was recently mentioned that is very favorable for the organization.

With Rodgers saying that this will be his final NFL season, he has a chance to deliver the first playoff win in the Steel City for the first time in nearly a decade. He has been playing very well despite being down two of his receivers. This is thanks to rookie Germie Bernard stepping up and starting to become a legitimate threat to opposing defenses.
On Friday, team insider Mark Kaboly joined 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh to discuss some headlines surrounding the organization. During his appearance, he started to preview the upcoming schedule. While discussing upcoming opponents, he mentioned a trend that has been very favorable for the Steelers in their history.
β10-7 is not a bad place to be because thatβs going to give you a chance to win the division and have a chance to have a home playoff game,β Kaboly said. βIf they get to 6-2 here, I mean, you rubber stamp pretty much the playoffs because theyβve done that 15 times and 14 times theyβve made the playoffs.β
As they get ready to face a Saints team with a losing record, they can secure a victory Sunday that would give them a three-game winning streak. When they come back home after that matchup in Paris, they get a chance at revenge against their division rival, the Cleveland Browns. Defeating Cleveland would avenge a road loss to them from Week 4. Should the team take care of business the next two weeks, history suggests that they have a strong probability to make the postseason for Head Coach Mike McCarthy in his first year with the organization.
Rodgers' play so far in 2026 has been a welcome sight for the team and has them in a great position entering Week 7. In fact, one of his teammates recently gave him praise for one aspect of his game. Through his first six games of the 2026 NFL season, he has thrown for nearly 1,500 yards along with 12 touchdowns. This also comes with uncertainty at the wide receiver position each week with Pittman and Wilson both sidelined.
Steelers Have A Big Chance To Send Rodgers Out On A High Note
While history is in the Steelers' favor as their 2026 season continues, the team finding playoff success would put a bow on his time in Pittsburgh. It would also cap off a phenomenal career for Rodgers, a four-time NFL MVP and a Super Bowl champion. The encouraging sign with the offense from McCarthy's group is their ability to find ways to score points despite several injuries. They combined for a total of 60 points between Week 5 and Week 6, with both games resulting in a victory.

Despite how the next two weeks play out for the Steelers, they are currently in a great position with their 4-2 record. Much of that credit has to be given to their veteran quarterback. Should their offensive output continue as it has the past couple of weeks, they will be in position to win games more often than not. For Rodgers, it is a great chance to end his career on a high note in the Steel City as the playoffs can become a strong possibility.
